LCC is one of the largest community colleges in Michigan offering more than 200 associate degree and certificate programs. LCC also provides students with career and workforce development opportunities and a variety of options for personal enrichment.
Shon’ta Dwyer is the associate dean in the Technical Careers Division at Lansing Community College. She has more than 15 years of workforce and career development experience in the tri-county area, including six years at LCC. She served as the Director of the Job Training Center in the Community Education and Workforce Development Division, where she was responsible for the overall operation, coordination and evaluation of non-credit workforce development offerings. Additionally, she provided leadership over LCC’s services and processes provided at the Capital Area Michigan Works! service center.
Prior to her time at LCC, she spent 10 years at Peckham Inc., where she assisted underserved populations with tuition assistance and support services, as well as assisted employers with on-the-job training opportunities to meet workforce demands through the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act.
Dwyer attended Central Michigan University, where she received a Master of Science in Administration with a concentration in leadership. She also attended Michigan State University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies-Human Resources, with a minor in sociology. In addition, Dwyer is also a certified Business Solutions Professional and Global Career Development Facilitator.
