WIN collaborated with each of the Michigan Works! agencies in southeast Michigan in early 2016 to assist with regional planning activities. Per the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) policy issuance (PI) 16-02, each prosperity region as identified by the Governor is tasked to “align workforce development activities and resources with larger regional economic development areas and available resources to provide coordinated and efficient services to both jobseekers and employers.”
WIN worked closely with leadership staff from the Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation, GST Michigan Works!, Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works!, Oakland County Michigan Works!, Southeast Michigan Community Alliance, and Michigan Works! Southeast to develop the Prosperity Region 6, 9, and 10 plans. These four-year plans are effective from program year (PY) 2016 through 2019.
