Applications are being accepted for just-announced fall 2018 class
ExperienceIT, the non-profit partnership between leading downtown Detroit tech companies, announced its fall 2018 cohort will kick-off on September 13, 2018. The 10-week program, which provides free IT training for active job openings in software development and quality assurance, is entering its 5th year. Deadline for registration is July 9th at: http://experienceitdetroit.com/.
Led by IT-focused leaders Quicken Loans, GalaxE.Solutions, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, DTE, In-House Realty, OneMagnify (formerly Marketing Associates) and Amrock (formerly Title Source), the 2018 class will mirror that of 2017, with self-guided and self-directed online modules complementing an in-classroom curriculum. The latter component will be held onsite at ExperienceIT company locations, affording students the opportunity to gain exposure
to “real world” environments and cultures.
Upon successful program completion, graduates have the opportunity to interview with ExperienceIT partner companies. Since the program’s implementation in 2014, nearly 200 individuals have graduated, with an average of 73% accepting fulltime jobs.
Andy Frey, CIO of OneMagnify and the recently-named Chair of the ExperienceIT said: “Real world training for real world jobs remains vital to continuing to build a world-class information technology hub in downtown Detroit. We are committed to fast-tracking the best and brightest for work and careers that are available right now, right away.”
Hard skills training will focus on .NET and C# (C Sharp) technology, while, soft-skills, such as those related to interpersonal communication, working in teams and job interviews, are also key components of the program’s core focus.
Added LingLong He, Quicken CIO and ExperienceIT Chairman Emeritus: “There is nothing quite so rewarding as to see bright minds with IT aptitude become engaged and learn these much sought after software development skills. There is work to be done and innovation to create here in Detroit for the world.”
The Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN) is also a strategic partner of ExperienceIT, assisting with the soft skills training and administration of the overall program.
