Good news! Free training is now available to employers in the energy storage sector from Wayne State University (WSU) and Macomb Community College (MCC).

Wayne State University (WSU):
Courses Offered:
- Fundamentals of Electrochemisty for Battery (12 hours)
- Advanced Battery Systems for Vehicle Electrification and Hybridization (16 hours)
- Advanced Energy Storage Systems (16 hours)
- Introduction of Battery Management System (12 hours)
- Battery Manufacturing (12 hours)
- Safety of High Voltage Battery (10 hours)
The delivery of WSU’s training can be customized to the employer’s need. Training can be delivered through a webinar format or it can be delivered at the employer’s location, depending on employer needs.
• Prerequisite for employees to participate in training: Bachelor of Science in engineering, technology, or related science, OR equivalent educational background through work experience.

o Employers and students have the flexibility to choose the courses they are interested in, taking between one and six WSU courses, depending on their interest.
o Webinars are tentatively being offered from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and will begin in
March. A course description and tentative schedule is attached (see Attachment C in the file).
Macomb Community College (MCC):
Courses Offered:
- Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) First Responders (4 hrs.)
- Hybrid Electric Vehicle Safety (HEV) Fundamentals (4 hrs.)
- Hybrid Electric Vehicle(HEV) Fundamentals (8 hrs.)
- Introduction to Electric Vehicle Propulsion Systems- AUTO 2920 (64 hrs.)
- Motors & Controls for Electric Vehicles & Industrial Applications- ELEC 2913 (64 hrs.)
- Electric Vehicle Controls – ELEC 2914 (48 hrs.)
The training offered by MCC is delivered on one of their campuses or at the employer’s location depending on the training program and the employer’s need. First Responder training will be delivered at MCC’s East Campus, on Dunham Rd in Clinton Township. Courses intended for Auto Service Technicians are delivered at MCC’s south campus in Warren. All other classed can be delivered at M TEC in Warren or at the employer’s location.
