Macomb and Oakland community colleges will share in $50 million in grants designed to enhance instruction and prepare students to meet the demand for high-paying, skilled-trades jobs.
Eighteen community colleges in Michigan will receive grants under the Community College Skilled Trades Equipment Program. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation approved the awards.
The funds will enable the institutions to purchase equipment required to instruct students in the skilled trades so much in demand by manufacturing.
